Golf Swing Takeaway Drills – Fix All Your Golf Swing Problems

Golf swing takeaway drills, a subset of the back swing, plays a crucial role in a successful golf shot. However, while it has a clear beginning, there is no universally recognized endpoint. Golf swing takeaway starts when you start your swing and comes to an end when your club head and hands reach your belt height.

It is, therefore, the very beginning of each golf swing an getting it right plays a crucial role in enabling you to get your desired shot. Golf swing takeaways are of two types: right arm takeaway and one piece takeaway. So, which form should you use? Just execute the one that not only feels most natural but also keeps the club in the best position.

Takeaway Drills

To execute golf takeaway properly, you must get the sequencing right. Why? Improper sequencing has the potential to throw you off your tempo, change your swing path and reduce your distance and consistency. The solution is to start back swing with everything heading back together.

Proper sequencing essentially means your arms, hands, shoulders and a slight turn on your hips. Starting your takeaway this way sets you up to hit a successful shot. Below are useful golf swing takeaway drills.

1. Ensure your upper limbs are moving together

One way to help your engrain execute the correct sequencing is to simultaneously shift your left shoulder, left hip, the back of your hand and left arm. Additionally, to adequately explore the motion, grab the club using your left hand only (if you are a right-handed golfer) and slowly swing it back. If you do not involve the whole of your left side when swinging  the club backward, you will have a hard time moving the club.

2. Hold the club lightly

It is advisable to clasp the club gently to feel as though your hands are just holding it when starting to turn your shoulders. Make sure the club face is still pointing down your target line, during the first two feet, on the minimum, of your takeaway. Holding the club right paves the way for a more effective and consistent path. Get this right and you will be sure you are on track to hitting your desired shot.

3. Let the club head stay outside your hands

One of the most effective golf swing takeaway drills is to ensure that when your club is parallel to the floor, the club head is entirely outside your hands. Doing so ensures your club moves into a well-balanced position. Aim for a nice, smooth takeaway; make sure the movement is not too fast or too slow. Try to align your club head to your hands or at most slightly outside your hands during the takeaway. Place an alignment stick on the same shaft angle, somewhat inside the club. Next, execute the takeaway as you keep the club head outside your hands.

4. Center your spine

One way to perform the takeaway optimally is to center your spinal cord throughout your takeaway as you rotate your joints and muscles around it. You can tell you are doing it right when you perform 2 to 3 inches of movement. The takeaway is, therefore, simple to execute. When starting, move your shoulder blade toward your spine, and downwards. Keep your arms and chest are connected; if you do it right the toe of the club will point upwards, at the  end of takeaway, as you realize 45 degrees of rotation.

5. Perfect your fades and draws

Identify two targets; when you want the ball to start and when you want it to finish. Find three golf balls and practice starting your golf on your initial target line. Find out if you can cause the ball to curve five, ten and fifteen yards. If you cannot, repeat the process and do as much practice as necessary. You will need these shots, at one point or another,
during your golfing career.

Conclusion

While for takeaway, just like many other sections of the golf swing, there are a variety of ways to perform, when learning the tricks, the basics are critical. So, master the above golf swing takeaway drills and perfect them and you will be a successful golfer. Once you have the same at your fingertips, you can use your creativity and take your game to the next
level. You can view more details on how to put backspin on a golf ball at this website
